As we finalise the close out procedures, i.e: Wash-ups and administration for 2011, we’d like to say that it was all for the kids.

We hope you will continue to raise funds so that we can beat our target from last year. We humbly request that riders collect their funds by the 1st week of September so that we can make arrangements to present monies to Wellchild – so that it can be put to use immediately.

As we start the prep for 2012 (!) if you are interested, please join us for a reunion ride in London on Sunday 4th September in London, as part of the Mayor of London’s annual Skyride.

• On the way back to Birmingham, i was disappointed to see that only a handful of people from Birmingham did the ride, so i would like to set up a group where all Brummies can join, get together for training sessions and hopefully for next year we can return in a double decker bus!
• Hello everyone!! This was my first time as a cyclist (usually marshal on my motorbike) and I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed it. From the people I met, to the Seva carried out by all those at the pit stops – it was brilliant.
• I hit a brick wall (mentally) on the A5, but after some encouraging words by one of the support teams and some water I managed to stay off the truck!!
• Looking forward to next year, although I may just jump back on the motorbike

The Annual Ride
Every July the ride starts from Birmingham. It then proceeds through Coventry, Daventry and then through Bedfordshire before reaching a centennial milestone in Luton. After an overnight stay, the ride continues in the morning and passes through St Albans, Radlett, Elstree, Harrow and then reaches its final destination in London, where all riders are escorted into the town centre surrounded by a sense of appreciation from the local community and support services.

Here are a few suggestions:

• Ask your sponsors to tick the Gift Aid declaration box when they make their pledge. Even when online
• Where possible, try collecting the money as you go along. You can collect cash or cheques.
• Cheques can be made payable to SACA. The total will be consolidated by SACA and then at the end of the event SACA will issue a single cheque made payable to the charity.
• If you collect cash, it would be very helpful if you could issue your own cheque to yourself.
• We advise you not to accept credit card payments unless through our online sponsorship raising pages.
• Build up a mailing list as you collect pledges. You may want to write to all your supporters once you have completed the event to thank them – and they will want to know how you got on. If you have a computer it’s an easy task to create an address list but if you do not have a computer, you could write out address labels as you go along. You can then photocopy these sheets of labels to keep as a record.

If you are collecting funds manually, keep your sponsorship forms safe! We need them all at the end of the day in order to make our Gift Aid claims.

In addition, you can talk to family and friends about the event.
